Surface preparation is an important part of the process because contaminants can interfere with coating adhesion and finished quality. After preparation, powder can be electrostatically applied to the component before it is heated so the particles melt, flow, and form the final coating. Powder coating is commonly associated with metal products across industrial and consumer applications.
